You’re Beautiful

mikefrawley:

the sun
the moon
it ends too soon
seems everybody’s doin’ time

it’s good
it’s bad
it’s all so sad
though being born is not a crime

share love
don’t hate
how can you wait
it’s time for you to be a star

so perfect
and true
God loves you
you’re beautiful just the way you are

Foolish Dreams

mikefrawley:

It’s all too clear, I had it wrong
I dreamt a dream of you and me

In vain I planned and tried to share
a life our eyes would never see

I will not weep for foolish dreams
as nothing real was truly lost

All the same, it stings to watch
my heart’s desire cruelly tossed

Love goes not often as we planned
such is the way of mice and men

Though today the dream has died
I know one day I’ll dream again

Mobile phone flower shots

As one of the photographers in Pittsburgh PA, I try to have my camera handy as much as possible. You never know when you might come across a person or a scene that might inspire you to take a shot. However, we can’t always have our gear with us and on those occasions, we can at least try to make our cell phones suffice as a decent substitute.

Here are a few recent shots of flowers from around my neighborhood taken with my Samsung Replenish.

Quick photo tip for shooting flowers

Dew on flowers can be a wonderful addition to photos. However, you can’t always get to the subject at a time that will allow you to catch this beautiful natural effect. So, what can you do.

1. Get a spray bottle with water.

2. Gently and briefly spray the petals and there you go.

My digital camera timeline

First digital camera -

Polaroid. It was extremely inexpensive and used only internal memory. There was no flash and the image resolution was less than 1 MP.

Second digital camera -

Kodak. It was a bit bulkier of a compact but featured 3x zoom, a strong flash and 3.2 MP resolution. It used SD or MMC cards and camera-specific rechargeable battery.

Third digital camera -

Gateway. Smaller compact and a whopping (for the time) 5.1 MP. Moving on u the ladder.

Fourth digital camera -

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50 (I still own it). This bridge camera was like a point and shoot on steroids. Basically a hybrid between a point and shoot and SLR. Shoots HD video, features 12X optical zoom and 10.1 MP resolution. it also allows for exposure, aperture, white balance control and all the rest.

Fifth digital camera -

Panasonic Lumix G1 (My current camera). This Micro 3/4 unit is a less bulky SLR with 12.1 MP resolution. It goes up to 1600 ISO and provides all the necessary exposure and lighting functions. It is only limited in it’s zoom and focal length capabilities by the particual lens you choose to use with it.
